Chinese Gems is an animated, audio-enhanced game that helps you learn the appearance, meaning, pinyin spelling, and pronunciation of Chinese characters.
You begin a level by matching Chinese characters on colorful gems laid out on a board. Each level introduces 3 or 4 new characters and sets goals for the number of times you must match each one. When you align three or more gems showing the same character, you hear its pronunciation and see its pinyin spelling and English translation, then the gems disappear and new gems fall into their places.
After meeting the goals for the required matches, you proceed to a short test, the Bucket Challenge. Beat the clock while you rack up more points by showing how you recognize the appearance, English translations, pinyin spellings and sounds of the Chinese characters that you have just matched. After the Bucket Challenge, you move on to the next level and are introduced to new characters.
As you successfully advance through the levels of Chinese Gems, you ll encounter other challenges that will help you understand how characters are combined.
The game is addictive and fast moving, making the challenge of learning Chinese entertaining. Play on your own, or compare scores with friends by logging in via Facebook or play with classmates as part of an organized course.
